Robert was the guest on the BBC’s prestigious Radio 4 programme Desert Island Discs. The premise of the show is that the guest is a ‘castaway’ on a deserted tropical island and has to choose eight recordings which hold special meaning for them. The ‘castaway’ is also allowed to take a copy of The Bible, the Complete Works of William Shakespeare and one additional book and a (non-practical) luxury item.
Robert’s chosen book was ’Sons and Lovers’ by DH Lawrence.
Robert chose the following recordings:
|Sparky’s Magic Echo||Radio 2 children’s CD|
|Round The Horne||BBC comedy with Kenneth Horne, Kenneth Williams, Hugh Paddick|
|Here Comes the Sun||The Beatles|
|In My Life||The Beatles|
|Life In A Northern Town||Dream Academy|
|La Boheme||Giacomo Puccini|
|2001: A Space Odyssey (Also Sprach Zarathustra)||Richard Strauss|
|Enigma Variations – Nimrod||Edward Elgar|
