Theatre - The Lion in Winter

I know I said we were updating the website but, if I’m honest, I just haven’t had the time, so I thought it best to at least reinstate it for now, as I’ve missed the correspondence.
So let me fill you in….
As many of you know My Family is finishing it’s eleventh and final series this summer and, despite what you may have heard in the press, it was an entirely mutual decision to end the series. However, as you know, it’s so popular I’m sure the BBC will continue to repeat it. So onwards and upwards.
I’ve just finished a comedy series for Sky One called Spy in which I play an extremely weird and wonderful character called the Examiner who is head of MI5. It’s written by Simeon Goulden starring a wonderful actor, Darren Boyd and this will reach your screens in the Autumn – and I have a funny feeling it will be very popular.
From the theatre point of view, I’ve just agreed to do The Lion in Winter, a play by James Goldman, this Autumn at the Haymarket Theatre for the Trevor Nunn series. It’s the first time I’ve ever worked with Trevor and I’m absolutely thrilled.
The autobiography is now available in paperback (which includes a free audiobook CD) and I’m delighted to hear from the publishers that it’s doing very well.
Lastly, I’m hopefully working with the great Richard Griffiths in late summer but more of that anon….
I’ll keep you posted with what happens next…
Best wishes
Robert
